Are you making these 8 shine-stealing mistakes with your hair?
I created our shine serum to bring back a youthful look of shine while mending and laying down the freys of the cuticle. Our clients love that it can be used dry or wet, and is extremely light for all hair types. The serum fundamentally restore strands that brilliantly illuminates, enhancing color and highlights while taming frizz and flyaways for every hair type.
Here are the most common hair mistakes to be aware of that steals your shine.
You Heat Style Too Frequently
The heat from using blow dryers, flat irons, and curling irons can really do a number on your strands. Those with fine hair should stay below 360 degrees, while medium and coarse hair should stay below 380 degrees and 410 degrees, respectively.
Over Shampooing
Washing your hair strips natural oils, which is inherently drying. So try to refrain from washing your hair every single day, or using shampoos with drying and irritating ingredients like sulfates.
Skimping On Moisture
We condition our hair to help replace moisture that was lost from shampooing. But if you don't let your conditioner sit in your hair long enough, or if you don't use the right formula, your hair could be missing out on some much-needed nourishment.
Know the Quality of Your Hair Color
Frequent touch ups and highlighting can be very damaging to the hair. Know the ingredients of your color line - and always opt for TRUE ammonia free/PPD free color and watch for the silent substitute harmful ingredients that replace them. Our Color line at Beauty Ecology is all that and more by using enzymes versus peroxide and clay versus bleach!
You Aggressively Detangle
Your hair is most fragile and prone to damage when it's wet. So if the first thing you do out of the shower is trying to run a brush through your hair or towel-dry it, you're likely causing some breakage. Instead, gently squeeze out excess water, spritz in our Treat and Protect Spray and our shine serum to help protect your hair, and use a wide-tooth comb to straighten out your locks.
You Skip Protectants
Always use a heat-protectant spray throughout your locks before styling with a hot tool to keep the breakage at a minimum.
Nutrient Deficiency
Our inner is the reflection of the outer. Your daily intake of vitamins and minerals is essential to keeping not only your body but also your hair healthy.
Aging and Changing
Internal factors have an effect on the health of your hair. Birth control pills, pregnancy, and menopause are all times of physiological shifts within the body that can have an adverse effect on the hair, including dryness and brittleness.
