What causes limp hair?

Do you have BOUNCE envy too? I get it, and it’s why I manifested this super light weight - but potent volume and texture spray. If you have limp hair, chances are it’s “fine,” which isn’t to be confused with “thin hair.”

There are a myriad of reasons hair goes limp. If you have a lot of hair, but fine, it’s because each hair has its own oil gland, so the more hairs you have, the more oil your scalp produces and in a smaller area. The result? Goodbye body and bounce!  However, all hair textures can lack body and volume if you use the wrong products, or use them incorrectly.

If your hair is limp and you have fine, medium, or  coarse, check that you’re using the right products for your hair texture, and that they’re being applied as they should. For example, applying conditioner too close to your roots can leave your hair flat, as can using too much of a styling product or not rinsing out your shampoo properly.

The Route to Root Vavoom and Bounce

Product Check

Use a ‘body-building’ and ‘volumizing’ or ‘thickening’ styling products - AKA Volume & Texturize Spray. Look for products with proteins and phytonutrients help accurately and nourishingly coat the cuticle and add extra thickness, and sometimes strength (an added bonus).

Our Root Revival Regime is the ultimate long term hair buddy for a volumizing regime for fine and thinning hair. This hair growth routine and volumizing spray are complementary products that work together to build stronger, thicker and fuller hair. In user trials, the root revival after shower spray is said to be 2 times more powerful than drug based minoxidil and users say they found their hair looked and felt thicker and fuller after 6 months of use.

Hair Tips!

Tip upside down … and BlOW IT DRY!

You’ll be amazed how much extra body and bounce this gives you. Shampoo and condition your hair as usual. Apply our volumizer and begin to dry your hair. When damp, flip your hair over and use the dryer with your hair hanging forward.  Pay particular attention to the roots. When your hair is dry, style as normal.

If need be, shampoo more often and accurately.

Wash your hair daily if you’re extra oily or have hard water (get rid of the hard water of course). Your hair accumulates bits of dirt, dust, oil and grime every day – just like your skin - and these can really weight it down.

Trim your hair!

Shorter hair gives you instant body, because it weighs less. If you have very thick hair, you can get a similar result if you layer your hair. If your hair is fine, don't cut, layer, it’ll make your ends look sparse. Blunt cuts usually give a better body boost for finer hair textures, and won’t leave you with straggly ends.

Correctly Hydrate

Putting conditioner directly on or close to your scalp can weigh your hair down. Apply conditioner to your mid-lengths and ends, not your roots.

Did you get all the shampoo out?

First, make sure you’re scrubbing efficiently at the scalp. A lot of residue and oils want to cling - so don’t be hasty when you rinse out shampoo. If you think you’ve rinsed enough, rinse again!

Applying Products

Stay clear of shine serums or creams to your roots, apply them to your mid-lengths and ends. Only a small amount is needed if it’s a well-formulated product.

Color your Hair to Uplift

Coloring or highlighting your hair roughens and swells the hair shafts, giving your hair more body and volume. Just make sure to use the least toxic and damaging coloring agents and add extra moisture and hydration to your hair if you chemically process it. This can be done with our Evoq Treat & Protect Spray or any Evoq Conditioners, especially our mask.
